Cremation Society of Illinois to Host Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

/EINPresswire.com/November 7, 2012- Homewood, IL — Cremation Society of Illinois will host an open house Monday, November 12, 2012, from 10am to 2pm. Homewood Mayor, Mayor Richard Hofeld, will attend the ribbon cutting ceremony. The public is invited to tour their new space and crematory at 17859 Bretz Dr., Homewood, IL 60430 (nearest intersection is Halsted and Ridge Road, located just east of Halsted and north of Ridge). You can also meet Gerald Sullivan, president and owner of the family- run business.

Gerald started Cremation Society of Illinois in Park Forest in 1983. Since then he has expanded to 10 locations in and around the Chicagoland area. Cremation Society of Illinois provides the cremation service, which may be accompanied by a visitation, a full funeral and burial of the cremated remains or a simple memorial service. Their directors and counselors are professional and have developed a style of compassionate support created from their experience with families’ requests and desires. By listening to what people want, their service has evolved to offer personalized and dignified memorialization at an affordable price.

With over 35 years of experience, Gerald Sullivan has served as a board member on many trade organizations. In 2011, he was re-elected as president of the International Cremation Federation to serve his second term. The International Cremation Federation is an international non- profit organization devoted to promoting the practice of cremation to the highest standard. He is the first American president to serve on their board.

It was through his involvement with the board where he learned about Facultatieve Technologies, the world market leader in the field of design, construction and maintenance of cremation equipment. They set the standard with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) when it comes to the design and technology of their cremation equipment.

“I chose the FT-III crematory as it reduces our carbon footprint by using less natural gas and the filter equipment is monitored continuously throughout the process.”

Cremation Society of Illinois is the first to offer this type of equipment in the Midwest. The Homewood facility will offer space for families requesting a private family viewing or a witnessing of the cremation.

Festivities will start at 10:00 AM with a ribbon cutting ceremony put on by the Homewood Chamber of Commerce, which will be followed by tours of the facility and lunch.
