The Palm Beach Classic ballroom dance competition – a Palm Beach ballroom dance competition presented by Colleen Christman – will be held Jan. 19 – 20, 2013 at the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott.
This Florida ballroom dance competition is open to professional-amateur (Pro/Am) dancers as well as amateur couples, and it’s also a National Dance Council of America, Inc. (NDCA) sanctioned ballroom dancesport event.
“The Palm Beach Classic is one of the premier ballroom dance competitions in the U.S. Southeast,” said Colleen Christman, organizer of the Palm Beach Classic and Palm Beach Dance Challenge ballroom dance competitions. “We’re dedicated to making this a fun and first class event, and we invite all ballroom dance studios to participate.”
The event opens on Saturday, Jan. 19 with a V.I.P. 1950s-themed Sock Hop dance party, featuring musical performances by The Jake and Elwood Blues Revue, the only Blues Brothers act in the country sanctioned by the Belushi estate and Dan Aykroyd.
The all-day competition takes place on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 and will include entries in traditional dances such as the Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango and Quickstep; Country & Western dances Waltz, Two-Step, Cha Cha and more; Latin dances like the Rumba, Cha Cha, Salsa, Samba, Mambo and Merengue; and Rhythm dances such as the East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing and Hustle. Both American and International style entries are accepted.
With first place incentives for professional ballroom dance instructors and their student partners, the Palm Beach Classic is offering more than $17,000 in total prizes during the one-day competition.
Following the competition, dancers will enjoy dinner and professional ballroom dance performances by Andre and Natalie Paramonov.
The deadline to RSVP for hotel booking is Dec. 20, 2012; and the deadline to enter the competition is Jan. 7, 2013.
