Merla returns to Mid Continent oilfields

HOUSTON, TEXAS, AUG. 1 /EINPresswire.com/ — Merla Wellhead Solutions, a global provider of oilfield flow control valves, actuators, and related systems today announced the return of its distributed valve product line after signing an agreement appointing Spicer & Sandburg, Inc. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as the Mid Continent distributor of Merla’s flow control product line in a territory including Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, and North Texas.

The agreement marks the return of Merla to the Mid Continent region after more than a 40 year absence, dating back to the early 70’s when Merla was owned by Teledyne Industries, Inc.

“During this era Merla went through a series of acquisitions, most notably by Camco, and later Schlumberger, which turned our marketing focus overseas because the U.S. oilfield was depressed during much of that time.” said Mark Christian, North American Business Development Manager for Merla. “That is certainly not the case today, and with the recent advances in gas lift and secondary recovery injection technologies, operators are much more careful when selecting the valves that control their complex production optimization systems, from both a performance and local availability perspective.”

Merla valves, commonly referred to as “a Merla” in many international markets, have enjoyed nearly 50 years of successful operations in gas lift injection, and secondary recovery injection projects around the world. Merla’s American made adjustable choke flow control valves are specifically designed for production operations including injection, wellhead production, and flow line control. Customized and standard flow control solutions utilizing Merla’s Smart Valve technology allows oil companies to remotely monitor and control producing wells, injection wells, and associated flow lines.

Merla’s Distributed Valve division will supply flow control products sold through distributors and local supply stores located throughout North America. “Our partnership with Spicer and Sandburg allows us to provide operators with critical production components at a local level, and reflects our strong commitment to our customers. This includes our decision to position spare parts and repair kits in the field to support every Merla valve in operation,” Christian said.
