AGreatFirstDate.com, Denver’s newest online dating service, today announced its official launch in Denver and Boulder. Taking a radical departure from the myriad of cookie-cutter dating sites out there, AGreatFirstDate.com has created a free, truly unique user experience that takes the dread and anxiety out of online dating. The site currently boasts 45 users, and is expected to quickly grow as it moves from Beta.
AGreatFirstDate.com feels more like a social media portal, and much less like a common dating site line-up. Each user creates a detailed profile that goes beyond simple likes, dislikes and body types. Users can add categories to their profile, such as travel or food & drink, and can then upload milestones and notes within each category to tell their personal story. It even offers Instagram integration, which is a unique feature in the industry. The site is the brainchild of local entrepreneur Rory O’Rourke, who found that there was something major lacking on traditional dating sites.
“I have used online dating sites myself in the past, and after a number of dates with no connection, I realized that the accepted system of online dating was broken,” said O’Rourke. “I would find that people try to create a static perception of themselves on traditional dating sites, and it’s too easy to be someone you aren’t. In the end, all that does is make for awkward dates. By using timeline based profiles, I think people can get out on more quality dates.”
In addition to the enhanced user profiles, AGreatFirstDate.com uses a point system to deter spammers and users who are not using the site for its intended purpose. Users get points for keeping their profiles updated, and can also use those points to contact other users. If you don’t want someone to continue popping-up in your searches, you can give them a strike, which will secretly ban them from turning up in your searches.
