Phillips Charitable Organizations (PCO) Helps Family Rebuild Financially and Emotionally After Tragedy

PCO, founded by Infor’s CEO Charles Phillips, has provided assistance to a struggling family that suffered a terrible tragedy. After the murder of her husband, Bibi Alli struggled financially and emotionally to take care of her three children. However, a grant from PCO has alleviated some of the financial burden as the Alli family seeks mental help to process what happened.

PCO is dedicated to providing timely assistance to those in need. While other organizations may take time to reach out to those in need, PCO expedites the process, helping those who need it right away. One of PCO’s primary constituencies includes single-parent families.

While working as a taxi driver on Father’s Day, John Alli was murdered, leaving his wife Bibi and their three children to fend for themselves. Now, Bibi is struggling to balance being a mother and attending school to become a dental hygienist. Furthermore, she is fulfilling the responsibilities needed to receive welfare, which has taken a toll on her financially and emotionally.

Ms. Alli and her three children were all in need of bereavement counseling and psychotherapy following their terrible tragedy. The Alli family suffered from depression and anxiety and was in desperate need of treatment.

As a single parent and student, Bibi Alli has also encountered financial difficulties. She is forced to pay out of pocket for daycare services and has fallen behind in her payments. Above all, Ms. Alli was becoming overwhelmed.

However, PCO was able to provide the Alli family with a $2,000 emergency grant to help pay for day care so Bibi can continue to attend classes to become a dental hygienist. With the help PCO has provided, the Alli family can continue on their path to emotional and financial recovery.

Two major operating principles of PCO are to (1) evaluate and decide on grants quickly, normally within 48 hours, to help people with urgent challenges and (2) expend 100% of foundation funds on helping people in need and nothing on administrative overhead which is funded by the board itself.
