Repeatedly ranked as one of Michigan’s best 18-hole golf courses, Edgewood Country Club, www.edgewoodcountryclub.org/ which has graced Commerce since 1928, believes that, to thrive in a community, one must be a vibrant part of that community. That means drawing people together, making friends with neighbors. It means creating a locale where people can come together in a positive way in a stunning, stately environment to enjoy excellent sport, food and social activities.

With this principle foremost in their minds, Edgewood has expanded its focus beyond its pristine, challenging 71-par golf course to providing family-oriented activities for its growing circle of members. Edgewood has also opened its doors to host a number of charity and nonprofit events to permit these organizations to maximize fundraising by offering an elegant, exclusive environment.

It has long been documented that people who enjoy rich and diverse networks tend to be healthier and happier and live longer than those who are more isolated or uninvolved. Sociologists tell us that exploring opportunities to contribute to our community increases our overall contentment through connection with other people with a shared goal to build something positive for the greater good. It’s also a terrific way to develop and enhance skills and knowledge.

With that in mind, Edgewood Country Club has fashioned a positive club environment as an excellent place to meet people, make friends, find people within the community with common interests and passions, and even network professionally.

“We offer so much to the non-golfer as well as the golfer,” Brian Bach, the club’s general manager, explains. “Yes, we take great pride in our course and the fact that it was recently renovated by world-renowned golf architect Arthur Hills, once hosted the Michigan Open, and was the home course and training ground of two-time US Open champion Meg Mallon. And we have no fewer than four PGA pros and an active tournament schedule. But,” Bach adds, “our motto is ‘Round out your life.’ So we focus strongly on non-golf-related social activities as well.”

A recent nearly two million-dollar renovation included a magnificent new clubhouse bar and grille room and the additions of a fully fenced in children’s pool with water feature and a six-lane lap pool more than eighty feet long to its existing pool complex, complete with poolside food and beverage service.

“We offer exercise classes year round in our new fitness center, personal training and even massage therapy,” Bach says. “And our award-winning executive chef and top-notch culinary team ensures that our club dining room offers the best in quality dining.

“But, most important, we pride ourselves on offering a place for our members to come together in a strong, supportive, social environment, to bond together and enjoy themselves. Our members just love it here.” For a tour of Edgewood call Brian at 248-363-7112
