The UK’s favourite retailer of cheap fiction, the Book People, has announced the winner of its Fortnum and Mason hamper competition, which was run as part of the bookseller’s Great British Summer campaign.
The campaign hopes to increase the public’s awareness of the many amazing British authors, both past and present, and the Book People currently has a special section on its site dedicated to the ‘Best of British’.
Its Fortnum and Mason hamper competition was the first of many to promote the campaign and the lucky winner was Jenny Raynes. In order to be in with a chance of winning the competition, entrants had to submit pictures via the Book People’s Facebook page, which were then ‘liked’ by the bookseller’s fans. The top five with the most votes were picked for the shortlist, and the winner was then selected by the Book People’s competition judge.
Lindsay Eyers of the Book People said: “Our Fortnum and Mason competition was very popular and was actually our first interactive competition, in which we asked Facebook users to help in the judging process. Jenny Raynes is over the moon to have won and we absolutely loved her picture of Polperro in Cornwall – it was stunning.”
The Book People’s next competition as part of its Great British Summer campaign will be for a family ticket to the Just So Festival in Cheshire, and further details of the competition will be released in mid-July on the retailer’s official website and Facebook and Twitter pages.
Right now, booklovers can visit the Book People’s official site to see the collection of books available in the Best of British – the Book People collection, which includes everything from great books for kids from authors such as Roald Dahl and Julia Donaldson, as well as top travel guides for those interested in exploring Great Britain a little bit more in 2012.
