The Daily Music Break – The Site That Breaks Barriers Between Eras And Genres – Launches

/EINPresswire.com/The Daily Music Break is aimed at breaking the barriers between music eras and genres. A visitor is as likely to run into Louis Armstrong as The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Each embedded clip offers context on the artist and links to other clips and relevant information.

The Daily Music Break, a site that presents quality music regardless of era and genre, is up and running.

The ways in which music is distributed has exploded during the past decade. A byproduct of this revolution in access is that people are less likely to be exposed to music with which they are unfamiliar. In essence, everyone programs their own channel – and they program it with what they know.

TDMB helps people find what they don’t know. It does this by presenting great music across genres and eras. During a recent week, for instance, TDMB featured Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Willie Nelson, Santana, Arturo Toscanini (conducting the NBC Symphony Orchestra), Coleman Hawkins and Traffic. During another, visitors found Steely Dan, Morton Gould, Slim Dusty, Ben Webster, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Booker T. and the MGs.

“The site is all over the map–because that’s where the talent is,” said site publisher Carl Weinschenk, an IT and telecommunications journalist. “The huge growth in personal communications technology leads people to hunker down and tightly control what they experience electronically. That sort of tunnel vision can be good in business. But it’s a shame when it happens in music. The Daily Music Break is a useful tool in helping people find new artists and styles that they like.”

The site, which features some of the greatest music ever, has been up and running since March. The format is simple: An embedded YouTube music video — or video from another site — is posted with one or two paragraphs of commentary six days per week. The brief commentary links to other free music videos by the artist and provides context, such as the artist’s homepage, history, tour dates and discographies. TDMB emails a free link to The Daily Music Break clip of the Day to subscribers.

TDMB is open to joint projects, partnerships and other initiatives with other sites and music media companies.

The Daily Music Break features music regardless of era or genre. The only criteria is that it has to be good. Technology exists today to empower people listen to the music they like. More than in the past, however, people miss things they know nothing about. The goal of The Daily Music Break is to introduce people to the music they’ve missed.
