05/23/2012 (press release: Online PR) // Donna Stevenson

The Orange Prize for Fiction is one of the most prestigious literary awards in the UK and the Book People, the UK’s favourite retailer of cheap fiction, now has a special Orange Prize for Fiction Shortlist 2012 collection containing all six of the nominees’ titles.

The Orange Prize is designed to celebrate the best female authors of full-length English-language novels right now. All applicants must be for books written in the preceding year and any and all genres are accepted. The judging panel is made up of five women who will go on to decide the winner of the Orange Prize, presenting them with a £30,000 cheque and the Orange Prize award – a bronze figure known as ‘Bessie’.

The 2012 shortlist features six phenomenal female writers that, together, have published a total of 24 novels. The judges for the 2012 Orange Prize are Joanna Trollope, Lisa Appignanesi, Victoria Derbyshire, Natalie Haynes and Natasha Kaplinsky, all of whom have experience in writing, journalism or broadcasting. The nominees include Esi Edugyan (author of ‘Half Blood Blues’), Anne Enright (‘The Forgotten’), Georgina Harding (‘Painter of Silence’), Madeline Miller (‘The Song of Achilles’), Cynthia Ozick (‘Foreign Bodies’), and Ann Patchett (‘State of Wonder’).

Donna Stevenson of the Book People said: “We wish all six of these amazing authors good luck and can’t wait to find out who the Orange Prize winner will be. The winner will be announced on 30th May at the Southbank Centre and we at the Book People are definitely waiting with baited breath.

“No matter who wins though, all six of these books are worth reading and each will keep your eyes glued to the page as you read. To commemorate the 2012 Orange Prize we’ve created an Orange Prize for Fiction Shortlist 2012 collection which includes the six titles.”

The collection offers great value for money, being just £20.00, which is a massive 58% off the RRP of £47.94, giving customers a saving of £27.94. There is sure to be something for everyone in the collection and customers can decide for themselves who their personal favourite is.
