Inglenook Offers Eco-Friendly Choice for Indianapolis Real Estate

/EINPresswire.com/Inglenook, a pocket neighborhood of cottage style new homes in Carmel, IN, offers an eco-friendly alternative for homebuyers shopping for Indianapolis real estate.

Inglenook, a community of 27 cottage style new homes in Carmel, IN offers Indianapolis real estate shoppers an eco-friendly alternative when shopping for a new home. The focus of the pocket neighborhood, which is being built by Land Development and Building, is to create a smaller environmental footprint than a traditional new home through construction, exterior landscaping, and design.

“Our commitment to the environment was a priority at every stage of planning and building the pocket neighborhood at Inglenook, starting with construction of our homes and site design,” says Casey Land of Land Development and Building.

The homes at Inglenook are built as much as possible with locally sourced materials to reduce fossil fuel emissions and transportation costs. The shared community landscaping areas use plants that are native to the region and drought tolerant. The community features porous pavers in driving and parking areas that allows rainwater to seep into the ground instead of becoming run-off that pollutes streams. Land says that this early planning helped build a solid foundation for the energy efficient cottage-style homes.

“Each home was designed to allow as much natural light as possible, so homeowners are less reliant on energy throughout the day. The skylights and abundant large windows are amazing. Each home is constructed with thicker exterior walls and premium insulation so homes stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter to lower energy costs year-round,” says Land.

The cottage style homes at Inglenook, which were designed by award-winning architect Ross Chapin, also feature Energy Star rated appliances and lighting and energy efficient heating and cooling systems. The neighborhood features 7 two- and three-bedroom floor plans ranging from approximately 1,060 square feet to 2,176 square feet. Prices start in the mid-$200,000s.
