CDC: Diarrheal Disease Spreads Through Pools, Play-in Fountains

A microscopic parasite called cryptosporidium is spread in pools and play-in fountains, the CDC reports.

In the summertime it’s almost impossible to keep yourself from jumping into the public pool to cool down, or to keep your kids from running through the public fountains, but there are ways to help keep yourself safe and prevent the spread of diarrheal diseases. Make sure you rinse off as soon as you get out of the pool or fountain and then shower at home. Also, if your child has been battling diarrhea, you need keep them out of public swimming areas so they won’t spread it to other kids.
