Debate: Should Extremely Obese Kids Be Taken Away from their Parents?

Some argue that state intervention is needed for overly obese children.

I don’t believe it would be beneficial to the obese children to be taken away from their family, but I support the idea of holding parents responsible for their children’s weight. Instead, parents should be court ordered to take their child to nutritionist doctors, follow a weight loss plan and check in monthly for weight check-ups. If parents failed to do this, then they should be fined or thrown in jail–not have their child taken away from them.
