On April 28, 2011 Sugar Land Tx – Jennifer Herbers announced that her organization has launched a new campaign in support of rescue animals across the country.

The new campaign is focused on the plight of Pit Bulls and how people use and train them as fighting dogs. Jennifer has loved and admired Pit Bulls since she was a child. Her first rescue of a Pit Bull was when she was a mere 14 years old. She confronted a man chasing a Pit Bull down the street yelling obscenities all the while threatening to kill the dog.

With little regard for her own safety, Jennifer stepped in. She caught the dog then turned her attention to the anger crazed man. The Pit Bull was obviously in need of help. It was obvious to Jennifer that the animal needed help. Her collar was so tight it was embedded into her neck. Jennifer talked to the man chasing the dog, calmed him down and convinced him the dog needed medical attention. On lookers watched in awe as this young girl stood her ground against an angry man more than 3 times her size. This one random act of kindness began Jennifer Herbers’ love affair with the American Pit Bull Terriers more commonly called Pit Bulls.

Remembering the events of that day, Jennifer Herbers said, “I was so scared, but that man was going to hurt the dog – or worse. I had to do something. My heart was pounding so hard I thought it was going to jump out of my chest. For a moment I thought I was going to faint.”

The Pit Bull had scars on its head and body. Even to the less knowledgeable individual, it was obvious that the animal had been in numerous fights or at the very least, was severely abused.

Jennifer Herbers wants to urge everyone to get involved. “Dog fighting is a horrible life for the animals being forced into the ring. This goes beyond the Michael Vicks of the world. The lives of these beautiful American Pit Bull Terriers are at stake. The registered name of the breed is the American Pit Bull Terriers. It is a breed of dog created in America. We created the breed; they are what we made them – in name and in character.” Jennifer goes on to say, “They deserve to be loved and treated with respect and kindness. Pit Bulls are no different than any other dog. If you treat an animal with anger – you will have an angry, aggressive dog.”

Pit Bulls are the victims of a part of society that gives no value to the lives of the animals involved. “It’s time to stop victimizing Pit Bulls and see them for the beautiful animal that they are.”
