CEO Of Internet Marketing Firm Visits Solivita To Speak About Social Media For 55+ Seniors

.Com Marketing CEO, Hillary Bressler, attends workshop at one of the top adult living communities in Florida, Solivita to speak about social media for 55+ seniors. Move over, Millennials: that next status post on Facebook could be from Grandma.

Orlando – Senior citizens are using social networking at rapidly increasing rates, according to a 2010 study by the Pew Research Center. Social media for 55+ seniors has nearly doubled — from 22 percent to 42 percent between 2009 and 2010, according to the study. For Internet users older than 74, that number has quadrupled, from 4 percent to 16 percent.

Indeed, women over 55 are the fastest-growing demographic on Facebook, according to InsideFacebook.com, a website that tracks and analyzes user data.

Facebook is the most widely used of the social media sites, according to the Pew study. According to iStrategyLabs, a Washington, D.C., social media marketing firm that tracks user data, about 10.6 percent of Facebook users are over the age of 55, a 59 percent increase from 2010. (Facebook won’t comment on user numbers for specific groups, a spokeswoman for the website said by email.)

“Social networking for older adults is rising rapidly because if they want to communicate with their kids and grandkids, they join the club” said Hillary Bressler, CEO and Founder of .Com Marketing, an Internet marketing firm that specializes in social media marketing and search engine marketing. “To stay up to date and to stay involved, seniors are making an effort to communicate with that younger generation in the way that’s most comfortable to them.”

Older online surfers typically need help with the new technologies, but once they learn, they are active users. “We are eager to teach them” said Bressler, a consultant based in Orlando, Florida, who is speaking about social media this Friday, April 22 at one of the top 55+ communities in Poinciana, Florida, Solivita during a workshop. Her presentation is part of a weekend long workshop put on by Solivita, an active adult community. The three day workshop will cover social media, health, finance and much more. Seniors living in active adult communities in Florida are encouraged to attend.

Bressler’s social media presentation is full of advice on how to best use Facebook, what makes a good post, the top 10 apps to download for the 55+ age bracket as well as jaw dropping technology that is sure to get the crowd walking away in awe of what is around the corner as far as technology.

Hillary Bressler, CEO and Founder at .Com Marketing, speaks nationwide on the topic of social media. “Most things in this world we learn from our parents, but technology is the realm where we learn from the younger generations,” Bressler said.

The older adults typically are not posting photos or articulating their every thought. They are responding to what other people are posting and just playing peeping tom which many of us like to do when on Facebook, says Bressler. Many are looking at photos of their friends or past beaus and following their families and grandkids through photos that are posted.

To RSVP for this event, which runs from Friday April 22 through Monday April 25, visit www.solivita.com or call 877-889-7060. Hillary Bressler will be speaking on Friday, April 22 at 10am and again at 3pm.
