Los Gatos, CA (Bay Area Injury Lawyer News)— A man miraculously walked away from an accident which ejected him from a Mustang—through his rear-windshield—causing him to be subsequently hit by a car on Highway 17. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the automobile accident occurred at 5:14 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011, on southbound Highway 17, just south of Lark Avenue in Los Gatos, reported the San Jose Mercury News.

The CHP reported that a 1989 black Ford Mustang was speeding, when the vehicle slammed into the freeway’s center-divider wall. The impact of the crash was so violent that it ejected the motorist, who was not wearing a seatbelt, through the back window and onto the highway. An oncoming Porsche Cayenne SUV then struck the man, in an apparent “glancing blow.”

The Mustang came to a rest right side up, but it was positioned perpendicular to traffic.

The driver of the Porsche stopped after hitting the man, along with several other motorists, who tried to help him.

The victim, only identified as a 33-year-old male, was walking and talking at the scene of the wreck when emergency crews arrived. He was then rushed by ambulance to Valley Medical Center, where doctors treated him for a large cut on his back.

“The fact that he got ejected out the back window and didn’t suffer major injuries,” Officer Ralph Caggiano said, “It’s one of those crazy things.”

A full investigation into the motor vehicle accident is underway. It was not reported if the driver of the Mustang or the driver of the Porsche were cited for their involvement in the accident.
