Dr. Lillian Glass, Bestselling Author of Toxic People and Toxic Men, Continues Positive Impact

Even though “Toxic People” was published in 1995, bestselling author Dr. Lillian Glass announces that the book—now available in many languages —continues to see robust sales worldwide, which shows it has made an impact on people’s lives. This is also due to the sales of her latest book and sequel to “Toxic People,” “Toxic Men: 10 Ways to Identify, Deal with and Heal from Men Who Make Your Life Miserable 2010.” (Adams Media)

When Dr. Lillian Glass wrote “Toxic People,” the term itself was unfamiliar to most people. Today, fifteen years after its initial publication, the bestseller continues to attract a following of readers worldwide, and referring to other people as “toxic” is now commonplace. Glass has more recently written “Toxic Men: 10 Ways of Identifying, Dealing With and Healing from Men Who Make Your Life Miserable,” which has seen a positive reception by women seeking help in dealing with and avoiding the damaging effects of toxic behavior.

The book has many fans, including Dr. Laura and Patti Stanger of BRAVO’s Millionaire Matchmaker, and the positive response from both men and woman has been overwhelming. Even Snooki from the popular MTV reality show ‘Jersey Shore’ tweeted about the book.

“I’m pleased with the reception that ‘Toxic Men’ is getting and heartened that ‘Toxic People’ is still finding an audience worldwide. When I wrote ‘Toxic People,’ I wanted to help others overcome a devastating reality: being treated badly by a toxic person. I knew that my book would help people all over the world. That touches me emotionally. The fact that this book continues to be so popular around the world with such strong sales 15 years later speaks volumes. My ‘Toxic People’ book became a classic. ” says Dr. Lillian Glass, media personality, body language analysis and nonverbal communication expert.

“Toxic People” begins with a “Toxic People Quiz.” Readers are invited to answer a number of questions such as:

Do you feel emotionally numb after you talk to this person?
Do you feel unattractive after being with this person?
Does the person treat you differently in public than in private?

The book then identifies types of toxic people and suggests 10 techniques for handling situations with these types. “Toxic People” also provides ways for people to identify their own destructive behaviors.

“Some things never change, whether it’s 1995 or 2010,” says Dr. Glass. “People behave badly and others have to learn to protect themselves from the fallout. In my work as a communication expert, I see this kind of thing all of the time. The shining truth is that people can overcome these situations. They can learn to deal with and heal from the ravages of f toxic people. Knowing how to detect Toxic People by leaning to use the right body language, verbal and non verbal communication skills can help immensely.”

Individuals communicate what they really think about themselves and others through body language, speech and vocal and communication patterns. Dr. Glass, a respected body language expert who provides professional body language consulting services to actors, attorneys and business leaders, encourages her clients to learn how to deal with toxic men and toxic women but she also champions the power of effective nonverbal communication.
