Doctors Endorsement Boost Sales for E-Cigarettes

After the popular medical program “The Doctors” aired promoting the use of electronic cigarettes as a healthy alternative to traditional cigarettes, sales for electronic cigarettes “dramatically increased” according to CEO of South Beach Smoke Chris Mahne.

Top medical professionals from the popular television show The Doctors revealed their top ten health trends of the year including the increasingly popular electronic cigarettes. The doctors: Dr. Stork, Dr. Sears, Dr. Masterson and Dr. Ordan agreed that using electronic cigarettes is healthier than smoking traditional cigarettes. They opened the show by stating, “If you are one of the millions of people out there addicted to smoking this product can help”. They drew their conclusions based on evidence from past studies and their knowledge of harmful ingredients in traditional cigarettes. They stated, “The greatest issue with cigarettes is the 500+ other ingredients added, not just the nicotine…”.

Also in the show they went on to test electronic cigarettes with a long-term smoker, Beverly, who shares her experience with them. She highly recommends the product and states that though she had trouble at first, sometimes “cheating” by using traditional cigarettes. The doctors asked her questions about the experience like ,”Did the electronic cigarettes feel the same as traditional cigarettes?” to which she replied “yes, and they are very convenient for eliminating cravings”. The next question was, “Are you still smoking electronic cigarettes?” which she replied “no” and was greeted with applause.

Doctors from the show warned that this product should only be used by those trying to quit smoking and non-smokers should not use this product. They closed the show with these comments “Do we recommend this for non-smokers? Of course not, but for current smokers this is the most revolutionary device to date”.

The FDA has issued statements against electronic cigarettes claiming that they are not healthier alternatives and should not be labeled as such. However, thousands of Americans have used them to quit and recent comments from a Doctor’s panel support the claims that e-cigarettes are healthier alternatives to smoking traditional cigarettes. While the dangers of using nicotine still exist in these products, doctors agree that they are healthier than cigarettes. This news is welcomed by electronic cigarette companies that often feel “wrongfully demonized” according to Mahne by the FDA and want their products to be seen as helpful not hurtful.
