Arab Region Most Affected by Climate Change

Nov 16, 2010 /EIN Presswire/ – The Middle East, a region already impacted by water scarcity problems, is the most vulnerable to the detrimental effects of climate change, according to environmental experts.

Plagued by dust storms, freak floods and rising sea levels, the environmental situation of the Middle East is already fulfilling climate change predictions. Scientists are warning Arab governments to act decisively to prevent potential environmental disasters.

The region has the most limited water resources in the world, and the region’s water supply has already shrunk to a quarter of its level in 1960. Increasing temperatures would exacerbate these water issues in an area where limited resources are mismatched with a burgeoning population.
