Nov. 3, 2010 /EIN Presswire/ – After Tuesday’s midterm elections, Democrats retained their Senate majority while ceding control of the House to the GOP. In a time of economic hardship, pushing legislation for reform and recovery through a divided Congress may prove difficult.
With Tea Party victories from Rand Paul and Marco Rubio in the Senate, the question is raised as to whether the more conservative Republicans will work with Obama and Senate Democrats does not bode well for cooperation.
House Republicans will likely try to push through tax cuts and a repeal of the health care bill, but they will face a strong challenge from Reid and the Senate Democrats.
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) believes that legislation will be more conservative or Democrats will have to work with Republicans to pass any legislation. Moving past an era of Republican filibusters, Durbin and many Democratic leaders believe that now will be a time for working together on both sides of the aisle.
