Economy Forcing Furniture Markdowns To Go Out of Business and Liquidate

Las Vegas Nevada – October 28, 2010 – Local retailer Furniture Markdowns is GOING OUT OF BUSINESS and will soon close its doors forever. Established in 1990 Furniture Markdowns is a family owned business proudly serving the Las Vegas Valley for over 20 years. Purchased and expanded in 1996 by a family from Minnesota, Furniture Markdowns has strived to give Las Vegas Valley residents the best service and value for their furniture dollar. The Paulson family, current owners, came to Las Vegas over 14 years ago to open a store in Nevada after owning several businesses in Minnesota. The Paulson’s bring a Mid-Western friendliness and the desire to give their discriminating customers the best possible value on quality home furnishings. Furniture Markdowns deals directly with over 40 local and national furniture brands, the same brands offered at larger retailers, without the markup.

The decision to close Furniture Markdowns was made only after considerable analysis of the current economic conditions. Phyllis Paulson, owner, and her General Manager son, revealed plans for the closing with a short statement: “The decision to close was very difficult. Furniture Markdowns is a part of the history in Las Vegas and we have loved being a part of so many families’ lives. However, there are some personal reasons to close. We wanted to be capable of holding a store closing event thanking customers for their past loyalty”. Mrs. Paulson went on to assure current customers that Furniture Markdowns will honor all existing warranties and service agreements and until every item was sold, offer the same in home delivery and quality as previously offered. Mrs. Paulson continued: “All customers should be assured that all on order merchandise will be delivered in the immediate future”.

When asked about the values being offered during the Store closing event, Mrs. Paulson stated: “The Furniture Markdowns going-out-of-business total liquidation will provide reductions of up to 75% OFF on every item in our huge inventory. The sale will begin on Thursday, October 28th and continue until all inventory is sold”. She went on to say, “We have a beautiful showroom, one that offers an incredible array of current and stylish merchandise. Over $1 million dollars worth of brand new fine quality living room, bedroom, and dining furniture will be sold as quickly as possible at the lowest prices in the store’s history.” Paulson continues, “Every item in the multi-million dollar inventory will be sold at greatly reduced prices, regardless of cost…This is a wall-to-wall total liquidation.”

According to Paulson, the “Going Out of Business” total liquidation event will allow them and their employee’s one final chance to serve area residents and to say thanks for the memories. Paulson said, “We have been so gratified by the wonderful support our customers have given us over these many years. That’s why we’ve decided to have a major going-out-of-business total liquidation and offer price reductions unlike any we’ve ever had in the store’s history. This event will give customers the opportunity to own fine home furnishings at once-in-a-lifetime savings, and it will be our way of saying thanks. Anyone who buys at this event will be able to furnish their homes with outstanding fine quality merchandise, for less than any other retail store”.

It is very important to us to maintain the standards and reputation we’ve earned over the past years.”
