Los Angeles, CA – October 19, 2010 — Voicebank.net, an online voice-over delivery service, has joined forces with program founders Voice Over There for our unique community outreach program directed at junior high and high school students in Southern California. In cooperation with Voicebank.net and KHTS Radio serving the Santa Clarita Valley, Voice Over There is launching a series of workshops in creative voice acting for students.
The program, whose mission is to Awaken in Young People the Power of Their Own Voices, will place professional actors and voice teachers in junior high and high schools in Southern California to conduct extracurricular school programs in voice acting. The program will consist of 5 weekly two-hour sessions during which students will learn the art of dramatic reading, voice interpretation, radio techniques for news reading, promos, commercials, PSAs and other voice skills.
At the conclusion of the sessions, Voice Over There will bring its mobile sound studio to the school to record and edit the students’ final projects. The students will get a chance to work in a real recording studio with a professional sound engineer and director in recording their assignment. The final projects will then be posted on the KHTS website where students, their peers and the general public will be able to vote for the best performance. KHTS will do a live interview with the winning team and air their project.
The pilot program conducted at La Mesa Junior High School earlier this year in Santa Clarita drew nearly 10,000 page views.
The students learned to express themselves with confidence and experienced the thrill of having their voices heard by a citywide audience. As the parent of one of the participants said, the workshops were a great source of pride for her daughter who was eager to continue in the program.
The workshops will commence this October at four schools in the Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys with plans to bring the program into the Greater Los Angeles area next fall.
