Philadelphia, PA – A salvage team arrived to begin recovery of the tourist duck boat that sank after being struck by an unmanned barge Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Just before beginning their efforts, a body was found in the river. Officials described the body as that of a young woman, but they have not identified it to be 16-year-old Hungarian tourist Dora Schwendtner, as reported by The Philadelphia Enquirer.

Schwendtner was one of two Hungarian tourists who went missing after the accident. The second victim, Szablcs Prem, 20, is still missing.

The young woman’s body was found at approximately 4:45 a.m. off Pier 80 at the end of Snyder Avenue, according to officials.

The body was taken to the Medical examiner’s Office for identification.

The rescue search for the two was ended Thursday evening when authorities stated efforts were now to be labeled as a recovery mission.

At approximately 8:45, the salvage crew of about 10 men arrived at the crash site. The crew is expected to use a crane on a barge to pull the amphibious tour vessel from the bottom of the Delaware River.

Weeks marine, a New Jersey-based marine construction and dredging company is performing the operation. The company was hired by the operators of Ride the Ducks.

The operation required the approval of federal authorities, including the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Transportation Safety Board.
