Boston, MA – A former sales associate for the children’s department of a Sturbridge department store pleaded not guilty Tuesday, July 6, 2010, to charges of sexually assaulting a young boy in the changing room of the store, as reported by The Boston Channel.

According to authorities, 27-year-old Francisco Barros-Gomes entered the dressing room of the JCPenney store in Sturbridge in November 2009 offering to bring clothing for the boy to try on. The boy’s mother had left the dressing room area in order to make a telephone call when the assault happened, according to prosecutors.

Barros-Gomes was released on $15,000 cash bail after his arraignment Tuesday. He was placed on house arrest and given a monitoring device to wear.

The alleged victim is between 12- and 16-years old, according to court documents.

Due to the boy’s age, his name has not been released. His lawyer also declined to comment on the case.
