The estimated 19 inches of rain that deluged the area made the Cumberland River rise to catastrophic levels, and ultimately submerged thousands of homes in Nashville. Landmarks such as the Grand Ole Opry House, the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center and LP Field were also flooded.
