Buffalo, NY – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration distributed a press release on Friday, June 18, 2010, announcing that Rich Products Corporation has voluntarily recalled its Allen Bavarian Crème Filling (product code 02881) because the product may contain undeclared pecans, milk and coconut.
The Production codes are listed as: 11870137F21, F-22, F-23, F-24 and F-25.
The press release states that those who have an allergy or sensitivity to ingredients of pecans, milk or coconut run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the products.
Rich Products Corporation, of Buffalo, NY, has not received any reports of illness in connection with the Bavarian Crème Filling, but has issued the recall as a precautionary measure.
The pail size of the product is 3.5 gallons and weighs 31.0 lbs. The pail material is High Density Poolyethylene (HDPE). The product was sold to foodservice distributors and in-store bakeries across the country, and was not packaged for retail distribution. The company has already contacted all distributors and customers who received the products and asked them to remove the products from their shelves.
Rich’s Product Helpline is listed as 1-800-356-7094 for those in the United States, and as 1-800-263-8174 for those in Canada. Consumers are told to call these numbers between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., EST with any questions. A voice mail may be left after hours.
