Morristown, NJ – A former teacher’s aide admitted Thursday, June 17, 2010, to having sex with a student during her employment at a Morristown private school, as reported by the Daily Record. The woman confessed to having a sexual relationship with one of her 17-year-old male students.
Danielle M. Hart, 36, now living in Chatham, pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Hart admitted she committed an act of sexual penetration on the teenager in Montville on July 1, 2007.
It has been recommended that Hart be sentenced to five years in state prison and upon release, register as a sex offender. Under Megan’s Law, Hart will be required to give her name and address to police as a convicted sex offender and remain under parole for at least 15 years.
Hart reportedly met her victim, now 20, when she worked as an aide for the Shepard School in Morristown. The private school specializes in education for students with behavioral problems and learning disabilities. At the time of their introduction during the 2005-06 school year, the victim was a sophomore.
She left the school in February 2008 after allegations arose over her improper relationship with the student. She was originally charged with having sexual liaisons with the student from June 1 to November 1, 2007.
Hart, who has a two-year-old child, is currently free on $100,000 bail.
