May 26, 2010 /EIN Presswire/ — Talks between American Airlines and the flight attendants union have broken down with no new sessions scheduled. Airline management has begun preparations for a system-wide strike.
In an email sent Tuesday to company managers, American Airlines asked for employees to volunteer as flight attendants in case of a work stoppage. The e-mail said volunteers might work more than six straight days, and they “may encounter challenging interactions with other crew members.”
American’s predicament comes on the heels of a British Airways walk-out. BA workers have been on strike since Monday, disrupting flights at Heathrow and other airports.
