Book Alleges Pope John Paul II Whipped Himself with Belt, Slept on Floor
January 27, 2010 /EIN PRESSWIRE/ A new book by Monsignor Slawomir Oder, the man leading the charge to canonize Pope John Paul II, alleges that the pope routinely whipped himself with a belt and slept on the floor as acts of penitence.
This thesis by Oder for John Paul’s sainthood also includes unpublished speeches and documents written by the pope. Oder writes that John Paul frequently denied himself food and would mess up his bed in the morning as to not draw attention to the penitence of sleeping on the floor that he performed the night before. The book also claims that the pope forgave his would-be assassin moments after the attempt, as opposed to four days later when he granted forgiveness in public.
