Could Ethanol Pipeline Become a Reality?
January 18, 2010 /EIN PRESSWIRE/ Consulting firm LECG has prepared a report that suggests an ethanol pipeline could be built between South Dakota and New Jersey at a cost of $4 billion.
According to the report, the Midwest-East Coast pipeline could create as many as 80,000 jobs in the short term and employ more than 1,000 permanently once the project has been realized. The report was spearheaded by Poet, the largest ethanol producer in the U.S., and Magellan Midstream Partners, a fuel distribution and storage company.
For such a project to become a reality, a loan guarantee with the U.S. Department of Energy would be needed, but such a guarantee is currently not possible because the loan-guarantee program does not include large-scale renewable fuel pipeline projects.
