A total of three people were killed and three others were injured when a Hyundai SUV slammed head-on into a Honda Passport minivan on Friday morning, November 20, 2009, near Wylie, as reported by Dallas Morning News.
Around 10:07 a.m., the Texas Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident on Highway 205, just south of Lavon Lake. A white Hyundai SUV reportedly was traveling northbound in rainy conditions, when police officials believe the SUV hydroplaned and veered into the oncoming traffic lanes. The SUV then slammed head-on into a white Honda Passport minivan. The impact of the collision was so severe that it completely knocked the engine block out of the Hyundai, and was discovered laying in the roadway. The occupants of the SUV, Tommie Chambers, 35, and Ariel Langford, 15, residents of Wylie, sustained non-life threatening injuries. Chambers and Langford were both transported by emergency medical services (EMS) teams to Plano Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the SUV, Andrea Dunn, 42, of Nevada, Texas; along with passengers, John Mcilvain, 76, and Margaret Mcilvain, 74, of Nevada, were tragically killed in the violent collision. A 4-year-old girl who was also traveling in the SUV sustained non-life threatening injures, and was taken to the Children’s Medical Center Dallas for treatment by doctors and nurses. Texas Highway Patrol reported that all the deceased victims were wearing their seatbelts at the time. Police officials are conducting a full investigation into the fatal two-vehicle collision.
