Texas insurance litigation law firm alerts the National Weather Service confirmed 110 mph tornado winds struck Beaumont causing serious damages.
Texas insurance litigation law firm of Eberstein & Witherite says August is usually a hurricane month but on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, the residents of Beaumont were taken by surprise when a tornado touched down durning an afternoon storm. The National Weather Service (NWS) http://www.nws.noaa.gov/ confirmed the tornado winds ranged from 100 mph to 100 mph and left a collapsed roof at a local Kohl’s Department Store injuring 10 shoppers. Beaumont is a gulf coast town located about 80 miles northwest of Houston and the tornado tore apart a half-mile long area leaving damages at Kohl’s, Wal-Mart, a pet store, book store and a local mall according to the Houston Chronicle. The ten injured Jefferson County residents were treated at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital and no reports of death have surfaced. Flipped cars and debris from the wake of the tornado left workers busy on Wednesday while residents moved forward to recover from their injuries and damages.

-If you are outside with no shelter-lie flat in a nearby ditch and cover your head and be aware of flooding. You are safer in a low, flat location not under and overpass or bridge.
