Daytona Beach, FL–On Thursday, July 23, 2009, the Walton Sun reported that an Inlet Beach area, one vehicle SUV accident left one passenger dead and one critically injured around 5:44 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) http://www.flhsmv.gov/fhp/ remains investigating the fatal SUV rollover accident which ejected both passengers, leaving one dead and one transported to Bay Medical Center Hospital in critical condition, by Walton County emergency medical services (EMS) crews. Apparently, the unidentified SUV driver was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 98, west of Walton Lake Short Drive, when the vehicle drifted, stuck the concrete curb, and rolled over several times ejecting both passengers.
Florida Highway Patrol SUV accident detectives confirmed neither of the passengers was wearing seat belts. Panama City resident Krystal L. Mechalik, 23, died in the Isuzu SUV rollover crash from the traumatic injuries she sustained when she was ejected from the motor vehicle. Marion M. Maclean, 22, of Panama City, was the other ejected passenger who was also unrestrained. She remains in critical condition. Information about the driver has not been released.
