Maersk Line introduces service from Mundra
-Opens acceptance for exports
-Weekly Feeder Service to connect Mundra – Pipavav

/EIN News/ Mumbai May 13, 2009: Maersk Line is pleased to announce that it has introduced Mundra as a point of acceptance for cargo out of Gujarat & Rajasthan. Mundra will be currently serviced by a weekly feeder service into Pipavav arriving every Sunday with convenient onward connection on the ME1 service to Europe and the ME3 service to Mediterranean & the Middle East. This new service is aimed to enhance Maersk Line’s service offering to exporters from Rajasthan and Gujarat and further strengthen its presence in these growing markets.

This move has been prompted by the recent enhancements to the ME3 service, which now has added Pipavav as a port of call, not only expanding Maersk Line’s coverage from/to North and North West India but also providing Pipavav as an alternate gateway on the west coast of India.

Maersk Line already has acceptance points at Kandla & Pipavav and the addition of Mundra has further solidified its service coverage in Gujarat. The first service from Mundra to Pipavav commenced on 10th of May 2009 on m.v. OEL SHREYAS, the OEL feeder that calls Mundra – Pipavav – Cochin – Tuticorin – Kandla, and subsequently loaded on the ME1 & ME3 service from Pipavav

Commenting on the new service, Mr. Rizwan Soomar Managing Director Maersk India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We constantly strive to improve our service coverage and provide our customers with better, faster and innovative products. Opening up Mundra as a point of acceptance bears testimony to that. We remain committed to the Indian market and look forward to the support of our customers to make this new service offering a grand success.”
