Regular screening for prostrate cancer opted for by men who are married

Men who live with a partner or a family are more likely to go in for a regular check up and screening for prostrate cancer than those who live alone, according to a research study.
This study was conducted with at least 2400 men aged between 40 and 79. It was found that men who had a family history of prostrate cancer tended to go in for prostrate screening on a more regular basis, that too only if they lived with a wife, a partner or a family. Men who lived alone usually did not bother to go for check ups.
In fact, studies show that even men who did not have any family history of this illness subjected themselves to screening more than the high risk men who lived on their own. It is recommended by the Cancer Society in America that men who have reached the age of 45 would do well to go in for screening on a regular basis, especially those with a prostrate cancer family history.
Findings were published in the Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Preventions journal and states that men who lived with partners and family were usually pressurized and sent for a screening for prostrate cancer.
According to Ann Arbor University of Michigan researcher Lauren P. Wallner, this shows that partners and wives can be targeted to motivate men to subject to prostrate cancer screening.

Researchers say that with the help of these findings, it may be possible to promote awareness among men regarding advantages of detecting prostate cancer at the early stages through regular screening.
