Disney disagrees to pay the installment of the upcoming Narnia film

As Hollywood struggles with the problem of business economics, the Walt Disney Studios declared to cancel the plans for partnering the upcoming movie of the series of the Chronicle of Narnia, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. As per the spokesperson from Disney, Burbank studio has taken a resolution of not exercising the option of co-financing the third film, based on children’s classic books by C.S. Lewis because of the budgetary considerations. Although the movie budget came in considerably below $200 millions of Prince Caspian, in the last series of Narnia films, it could even raise during the production process.

Walt Disney Studio’s decision not to proceed with the Dawn Treader implies how the production is selective while choosing the total amount of releasing pictures. Disney was uneasy about the Dawn Treader budget as it is subject to some uncontrollable aspects like uncertainty of rebates and tax breaks. A close source also commented that there were some creative disparities between Walden and Disney and that both the parties disagreed on the releasing date of the movie in the year 2010. Walden also reported that it holds the hope to search for some latest economic partner to carry on with the plans of shooting the movie in the first quarter with Michael Apted as the director.

As per Anschutz Film Group’s (parent company of Walden) chief executive, David Weil, they are really disappointed that Walt Disney Studios has decided not to go any further however; they regard the film Dawn Treader to be a really prestigious property along with remaining committed with the franchise. Taking a latest partner on half a risk can prove to be a real challenge for the Walden, given the fact that the movie Prince Caspian was far below the expectations. The movie earned $419 millions, which is far less as compared to the first film of Narnia, grossing about $745 millions in the year 2005.
