Copy protection approved CSS Hollywood movies can now be downloaded directly on to the DVD with the help of the recently released Qflix DVD burner from the Dell-Sonic solutions partnership. Sonic Solutions is the forerunner of the Qflix technology.
Sonic’s strategic partnership with the PC retailer Dell provides immense possibilities to integrate this component into consumer PCs. Though, at this stage it is not very clear as to whether the market is ready for a DVD burning technology requiring media and drives specially made for this, it is a promising enough start.
Qflix’s success actually hinges on the aspect of its hardware. It will be provided through the burners that are internal and installed in the factor as part of the components of desktops and laptops of Dell. Qflix comes with a 2.0 USB external drive at a price of $120.
Components that come with the package include the easy to install Roxio Venue suite including CinePlayer, Venue CinemaNow Media Manager, 2x-8x recording, CSS video logo, etc. The package also comes with the welcome inclusion of the Easy Media Creator, the OEM version from Roxio.
The heart of the device of course is the Roxio Venue 1.1 suite. Download is launched to the DVD interface with the help of this suite. In fact, the moment you open the Venue application, you can start browsing around the catalog and select movies. You can browse by categories including action, drama, comedy, family and thriller. In fact the moment application opens, you are provided with a list of the latest movie releases.
