S Africa’s fight against AIDS offered funds by UK

In order to fight against AIDS, Barbara Hogan, the new health minister of South Africa has been offered funds amounting to 15 million pounds by UK.
To find a solution to the health crisis that abounds in South Africa, Ms Hogan was appointed as the health minister. The HIV/AIDS epidemic is the worst in South Africa. Aids and aids related diseases claim at least 800 people everyday.
The deaths of 330,000 people from AIDS in this country are blamed on the useless policies of Thabo Mbeki, the former president. The fact that powerful drugs can control aids which is a sort of viral infection was denied by President Mbeki.
Many children and adults infected with the HIV were unable to get access to the drugs that could have helped them as their president rejected these drugs. Mbeki’s policies are solely to be blamed for the hundreds and thousands of deaths in his country due to HIV according to a Harvard University team.
Ms Hogan brings with here fresh and renewed hope that this will change. The National Aids plan which was discarded during Mbeki’s rule will be revoked as a first step by her on the World Aids Day on Monday. This will be announced at the stadium where a lot of people will assemble to pledge their fight against this epidemic.
Having prominent personalities undergo a test for HIV will be a part of the high profile awareness campaign by the media. It is now extremely important for Ms Hogan to overturn the myths regarding HIV/AIDS says Ivan Lewis, the minister for International Development in UK.
