At least 600 children who come from broken homes and homes where one of the parents have lost their jobs will receive gifts this Christmas with a little help, even though a little early.
The annual Empty Stocking Fund gifts deprived children providing them with joy since the year 1912. Apart from a one to one meeting with Santa Claus, every child will be presented with a stocking full of exciting treats including a few toys. All this comes as a contribution from people collected during the annual drive of the fund.
The previous year saw also a lot of laughter, singing and dancing and this year is also expected see some merry making. According to the coordinator of the fund Debbie Pennell, if you do not know what to shop for a friend or a family member as they have everything, donating on their behalf to the fund will make those children very happy whose parents cannot afford to provide them with Christmas.
One of the oldest charities of the Wayne County is the Empty Stocking Fund. This fund has not turned away any deserving child till now and has always been successful in reaching its goal.
Just as in the past ninety plus years, Ms.Pennell is sure the community which is very caring will step up their contributions and efforts this year too. She says Wayne County is one of the most generous counties and will never let them down. She also said, without their grateful support, it would not be possible to care for so many children.
