Obama the president elect must be looking forward to the D-day along with millions. This is a historic moment for the American democracy. The first time this honor has been bestowed to a Black American president. This seems to be the latest show to be on. The whole world wants to be there on Jan 20 when he is sworn in.
The tickets to the show are limited. The ticket is supposed to be free. All Members of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, who host the big swearing-in ceremony say that one can get a ticket by contacting the local congressional representative,. They are supposed to have tickets to be distributed free on 19th Jan. The members of the congress with influential posts who are likely to get hundreds of tickets have a demand for thousands. One example is the office of Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin (D-Md.), who received 40,000 requests as of Monday.
Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-Ill.) has received 8,000 requests. He says” There’s a possibility we’ll have enough for everyone. There have been various suggestions to deal with this including tickets by lottery. Feinstein in anticipation plans to introduce a bill this month that would make scalping the tickets a misdemeanor.
