TiVo and Netflix two famous companies in Silicon Valley will finally announce their partnership which is long due.
TiVo’s HD compatible set top boxes will offer the streaming movie service of Netflix known as Watch Instantly. This furthers the goal of tech industry to provide movies and shows through the Internet medium rather than the traditional satellite and cable networks.
Netflix is famous for its DVD subscription service. This company is based in Los Gatos, California and has recently been expanding its operations in various digital sectors including television shows and movies numbering over 12000. These are offered for free on the Internet where subscribers can view them for free either on their PC or their television screens.
The service which will be provided through the TiVo set top boxes will be tested from Thursday and will soon be offered to all TiVo subscribers at no extra charges. Netflix’s subscription will cost subscribers $8.99 a month which includes unlimited plans.
This strategic partnership between Netflix and TiVo also based in California, promotes internet content to a great extent. TiVo has another branch of business through which it sells its software’s to satellite providers and cables. With the impending partnership with Netflix, Tivo hopes to further its sales of its devices which is at present only a fraction of the DVR market.
The Watch Instantly service of Netflix is also expected to be boosted significantly, which has faced the impact of the current economic turndown. According to them, it is now their time with their partnership consolidating after passing through many hurdles.
