Tuesday saw Samsung mobiles and AT&T releasing the smartphone with a load of features for professionals. This phone named “Epix” has a Windows Mobile OS with Wi-Fi connectivity, video sharing, GPS and 3G connectivity.
This phone shares similar features with the Samsung BlackJack. Notable and significant features include a QWERTY keyboard and an interface which is touch screen. The navigational square in the middle of the phone enables use of optical mouse and this feature is the first of its kind according to a spokesman from the companies.
Powered by the Windows Mobile 6.1, this phone can sync calendars, corporate e-mails and contacts over the air. In order to stay in touch with their personal and professional lives, people need powerful phones according to Vice President, marketing of Microsoft, Todd Peters. He also said Samsung and AT&T have combined to offer their shared customers a versatile and sleek device in the form of “Epix” which follows in the line of Samsung’s tradition. He also said the “Epix” reinforces Microsoft’s Windows Mobile’s strong presence on the AT&T mobile phones.
The “Epix” offers searches location wise with its integrated GPS feature. It comes with a media player supporting multiple video and audio codecs. Handsets of AT&T use the VideoShareSM which enables users to watch live video clips while on a voice call. With a camera of 2 megapixel and Bluetooth, the memory of the “Epix” has a microSD slot and can be expanded to 32 GB. This smartphone is offered at a price of $199.99.
