The latest set of guidelines regarding exercises was released two weeks ago by the Federal government which offered certain straightforward recommendations including a regime of thirty minutes every day for five days in a week. Guidelines stipulated moderate workouts to maintain basic health. For those looking for enhanced health benefits, double the workout to make it more intense.
Questions arise as to what should be done by a person aged 65 or more? Should they follow the same regime or something different? Kids are also not given attention to as they need a completely different set of workouts to meet the needs of their developing bodies. Arthritis ridden and pregnant women usually are at a loss as to what exact exercise regime they should follow. The Federal government guidelines also seek to address these issues.
By issuing these guidelines, an attempt has been made to create a document with a broad review of the available facts which would effectively carry the weight of policy laid down by the Federal government. Apart from federal agencies past has seen guidelines issued by various associations including the American College of Sports Medicine, American Heart Association, etc.
William E.Kraus is a Duke University professor of medicine who was a member of the panel which brought forth these guidelines. According to him, making it a policy provides more significance to this document. This may effectively feature in various debates enabling funding for physical fitness programs in educational institutions. These guidelines have taken up a confusing subject and compiled them in simple terms.
