The Hubble telescope seems to be in trouble again. It was a big setback when the computer meant to relay science data to earth stopped working. The space shuttle servicing mission had to be delayed. By the time the scientists had fixed this and set up a back up computer and reactivated 3 computers a new problem arose. A power unit in one of the cameras went of f and another computer used by science instruments stopped functioning. “It’s not known if these two events are related,” Whipple said. “At this point we are fairly certain it was not a configuration or a commanding error.” “If we did not have the servicing mission, we would have less options to us available for recovery but we never take that for granted,” Whipple said.
It is not known how long it will take to repair the errors.
