“While these allegations are based on hearsay, I believe that my constituents need a full accounting,” Mr. Mahoney claimed in a written statement. “As such, I have requested the House Ethics Committee to review these allegations.”
The Speaker Nancy Pelosi has also called for a House ethics inquiry on Monday. it is alleged that the money, which was not a part of campaign funds, was paid as part of a severance package to the aide, Patricia Allen.
The Democrat staff members say that Mrs. Mahoney was aware if this payment. This money was paid as a severance payment and an agreement that she would not be a part of any campaign for a year. The agreement also promised her a job at Fletcher Rowley Chao Riddle, which is a Nashville firm that handled Mr. Mahoney’s advertising
