Comes with Music is finally released by Nokia after almost a year long wait. The company has announced the release dates when the first handsets which are compatible with this service will be out in the market.
Comes with Music is a music download service which is unlimited. This is offered by Nokia on a few select models including certain existing ones. Release is scheduled for October 16th in UK. United States and other destinations will see the release of this service from early 2009.
The Comes with Music service was announced by Nokia last year in a bid to spruce up its handset sales. Nokia also wanted to do something about its hitherto unsuccessful attempts in the realm of mobile media.
Music download services on the PCs are hindered in growth by the need for renewal subscriptions. Nokia ventured to strike a deal with some of the major labels to provide its users with innovative models of subscription linked to mobile phones.
With the Comes with Music service, you can access a music store with compatible Nokia handsets, which offers over 5 million songs from all the four leading labels with a yearly subscription.
The past year saw Nokia complete its negotiations successfully with EMI and Sony BMG. While the songs are wrapped in DRM, they can still be accessed after the yearly subscription expires. Tracks can be downloaded using windows desktop client or directly through the handset. Release of Comes with Music service in UK will be on Nokia’s model 5310 XpressMusic candy bar handset costing $180.
