The Google phone has been finally launched which is a serious threat to the Apple iPhone. There are many similarities between the two like the large touch screen and the super fast access to the Internet. The Google phone will however have a sliding keyboard, which will make it easier to email and browse. Another major difference is that another operating system called Android is also used here. Many other companies are involved in developing applications for this.
Another attractive feature is the Tune Wiki, which is a feature that allows one to synchronize the lyrics of a song with a You Tube of your choice. It is called Mobile karaoke, which is very popular.
There is good news for UK consumers. It will come free to UK consumers when they sign a contract with T-mobile, which entails paying a sum of 40 pounds a month. The total cost would be about 720 pounds. The US shoppers have it even better at the end of the year they pay only 420.
If the two have to be compared one finds that though the iPhone is more stylish the G1 is definitely more utilitarian and handy as a communication tool. Pieter de Klein, of T-Mobile UK says ‘It is a bit like comparing a Mercedes with a Ferrari,Some people hate Ferraris and like Mercedes, or it may be the other way around. There will be an audience for both.
‘Both use and exploit the internet in completely different ways. The G1 is more about being a communications tool, while the iPhone is more like a style object.’
Ernest Doku, of the mobile phone comparison website Omio.com, said: ‘The launch of the G1 is important not only because it’s Google’s first foray into the mobile market, but it’s also the launch of Android, which is an entirely new mobile phone operating system.
‘The Google phone offers the traditional smartphone experience while at the same time incorporating the touch screen features of the iPhone.’
Meta Description: Google has recently unweiled its G1 phone that comes with powerful features such as one touch Internet application, touch screen controls, customizable screen view, QWERTY keyboard and 3 MP camera with map view.
