Internet technology has paved way for online social networking. Innumerable social networking sites have been providing millions an opportunity to interact with people from all over the world. Some of the most prominent social networking sites include Myspace, Orkut, Xanga and recently the Facebook.
Facebook has been providing an effective platform for people to interact globally for the past three years. Being very simple, effective and classy, this has been one of the most popular sites.
Face book provides an opportunity for people to connect with friends, reestablish contact with long lost friends and acquaintances and make new friends.
In a bid to revamp its interface, last week saw Facebook launching the “new Face book”. The site called this an experiment and promised users the option of reverting back to the original interface if they did not prefer this. Users however found the “new Facebook” slowly replacing the old one on a permanent basis.
According to user feedback, the “new Facebook” is not as user friendly as the older one. Featuring a lot of empty white space, this interface makes it difficult for them to find applications like “Free Gifts” and “Bumper Stickers”.
A lot of complaints in fact have been sent to the creator of the site regarding the lack of user friendly features in the website. Petition groups have been formed against the site and a few people have even gone to the extent of deleting their account.
With all this confusion, there is speculation on whether someone is going to come out with a new social networking site which will lead to the end of “Facebook”.
