Good diet means longer life

San Francisco, California: For all those who wish to stay in great shape, easting healthy is the best way towards longer life. According to a latest report by San Francisco Chronicle, doctors and scientists at Sausalito institute and UCFS conducted a study on thirty patients of prostate cancer and it was found that a healthy change in one’s lifestyle and dietary patterns along with exercise, one could prevent the death of cells and thereby benefiting from longevity.

This study was conducted by a UCFS biochemist Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn – well known for the discovery of telomeres proteins found on chromosome ends thereby controlling longevity and cell division. Along with Dr. Dean Ornish who is a well-known San Franscico cardiologist who advocates stress reduction, exercise and controlled dietary intake thereby reducing chances of heart attack and sudden death.

According to the study that was released with Lancet Oncology, a British journal, both Ornish and Blackburn warned against the consequences of not taking healthy diet and exercise that can result in harmful consequences. Both Ornish and Blackburn stated that the tests were conducted on smaller number of people; it still reflects the general situation where people are reckless with their body and diet. However, both the researchers felt that in case the results are established, it would act as great motivator for people thereby forcing them to change their lethargic lifestyle and poor eating habits.

During this research, scientists examined telomerase enzymes of the cancer patients who volunteered for this research, went on moderate exercise, low fat food, and reduced stress for three months. Post the tree months, these 24 prostate cancer patients showed remarkable results with higher levels of telomerase. This study reflects the restoration of cells.

In totality, this study shows a healthy correlation between healthy lifestyle and dietary changes that increases the level of telomerase thereby improving the lifespan of prostate cancer patients.
