According to China Daily, quoting a Chinese military source, the Indian media recently ran ‘false’ claims claiming Chinese soldiers were apprehended for “crossing the frontier.”
As per the source, Chinese border forces carried a regular patrol on September 28 in the Dongzhang region on the Chinese side of the Sino-Indian border and fiercely opposed “unreasonable hindrance” from the Indian military.
The Dongzhang area is China’s intrinsic property, and it is completely acceptable and lawful for Chinese border forces to conduct patrols on their own territory, according to the source, who also stated that “the burden lies fully with the Indian side.”
Recently, a Chinese foreign ministry official stated that he was aware of “relevant information” following allegations in Indian media that Chinese soldiers had been arrested after an interaction with Indian forces in Arunachal Pradesh the other week.
The Chinese administration claimed that Arunachal Pradesh was part of southern Tibet, contradicting New Delhi’s contention that the northeastern state was a part of India.
China and India are engaged in a 17-month military stalemate along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, which has brought Sino-India diplomatic relations to their lowest point in decades.
Repeated rounds of diplomatic and military talks have failed to break the deadlock between the two forces.
The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and Indian Army are expected to have their next round of military talks on October 12.
