Recently, Google previewed some latest features, supporting their chrome OS. in product updates, Google announced they are launching some remarkable features to enhance users’ experience of the chrome operating system. The features include eSIM support, google meet-up update, emoji picker, and a set of wallpapers embracing the concept of togetherness. These updates are now available for the users.
eSIM Connectivity for Chrome Operating System
In a recent update, Google has circulated that the OS 92 stable version will now operate the eSIM feature for cellular connectivity. eSIM feature is convenient, especially for people who continuously travel. The feature allows them to shift between networks efficiently, and ultimately they are enabled to approach more than one carrier profile without having to change their physical SIM cards.
All the Chromebooks that have 5G-enabled or LTE hold the capability to leverage from this update. It is also important to remember that the latest features will not be provided to users who use an old chrome OS and software updates.
“Chrome OS now supports eSIM for cellular connectivity. With eSIM, you can download and switch between carrier profiles without having to insert or remove a physical SIM card from your laptop. This will be particularly helpful if you need to connect to a cellular network but can’t run to the store for a SIM card, and for international travelers who frequently switch between networks,” reiterated Google in their recent update.
The feature is available on the latest devices operating the latest version, i.e., OS 92. Users must have to own compatible Chromebooks that can run eSIM features into them. To enable the feature on your compatible device, open “setting” in your device, go to the section termed as “network,” and from here click on “mobile data.” Upon reaching mobile data, you can add your cellular connection to it, and the eSIM feature will be ready to operate on your Chromebooks.
Stating about the compatible Chromebooks, google emphasized that:
“This feature is only available on eSIM-compatible Chromebooks, like the Acer Chromebook Spin 513 and Acer Chromebook 511”.
Improved Google Meet Experience for OS
Since the outbreak of the global pandemic COVID-19, people and businesses are more inclined towards video calling. The purpose is to share education, workplace, and relationships remotely. Considering the inclination, Google has endeavored to improve its google meet application.
In a recent update, google explained;
“With Chrome OS’s latest update, Google Meet will be pre-installed on all Chromebooks, so it’s easy to launch into the app and get on a video call right from the Launcher.”
The google meet application will now be pre-installed by default to the latest versions of Chromebooks, just like many other Google applications. Users will benefit from the application more easy to utilize it as an effective communication tool. By saving time, users will be redirected to set up their google meet. However, this feature can only be leveraged by the latest Chromebooks operating on OS 92.
Talking through the features, Google stated that video performance is improved than in the past, with more exclusive results. Users will leverage a more stable and good quality screen-sharing experience.
“Google Meet includes exciting features, like video backgrounds, that make meetings more inclusive and fun. We’ve also made performance improvements like adapting video calls to different network conditions and adjusting video performance during screen sharing”—updated Google.
It is also notable that Google recently partnered with the zoom calling platform to transform their video calling experience into a better one. While updating its audience, Zoom revealed that they are featuring a more enhanced zoom experience for its chrome users.
Zoom shared their application and asked the audience to use it for a more versatile and user-friendly Chromebook experience.
Emoji Picker
As a Chromebook user, you must have felt that old emoji pickers were problematic and not so convenient. Google concerns the issue, and they have improved the emoji user experience. The Chromebook emojis now synchronize with mobile, and users can add them easily during messaging.
Talking about better emoji experience, google highlighted the guide to add the latest emoji feature on your Chromebooks.
“On your Chromebook, use the new keyboard shortcut (Search or Launcher key + Shift + Space) to bring up the compact emoji picker. From there, you can see your recently used emoji and scroll to discover others. With a click, the perfect emoji is inserted into a conversation, document, or any text field on your Chromebook.” reinstated google in product updates.
Emoji updates have also included easy emoji searches for your relevant content. Although the service is only available in English currently, you will be redirected to it by simply typing any word in the emoji search picker.
